Key Steps to Take to Have a More Positive Mental Attitude

With the growing conversation surrounding mental health in recent years, we all know that mental health is just as important as physical health. Here at TopQuote, we are passionate about encouraging our customers to stay healthy. Not only will it keep your premiums down but you’ll also live a longer and happier life. We’d like to share with you some tips to having a healthy positive mental attitude, so that you can take the necessary steps to being a more positive person.

1) Try not to complain.
When you focus on what you don’t like about your life and complain about it, the negative will seem more prominent than the positive as that is what you’re talking about. Try to turn negative thoughts into positive ones rather than letting them manifest into complaints.

2) Get into a habit of daily gratitude.

Writing down 3 things that you are thankful for each day has been proven to significantly increase happiness, which in turn will make you even more grateful for what brings positivity into your life.

3) Regularly exercise.
If you want to feel more positive, a great way of boosting your positivity is to get moving. Exercise helps you feel more happy and positive as your body releases endorphins when you work out.

4) Take some time to yourself.
Constant interaction with people, whether it be at work or home, can be draining. To create and maintain a positive mental attitude, you need to take some alone time for yourself to recharge your batteries. Take some time to de-stress and do things that you enjoy so that you can give yourself a healthy balance.

We sat down with one of our very own members of the TQ team, Alicia, to discuss how she stays positive in everyday life.

I became more positive by retraining my subconscious mind. For every positive thought, the brain naturally has 10 negative ones and the way to get rid of pollution is dilution, so I dilute my mind with positivity to kill off any negativity and my mind is always boxed in to positivity. I listen to positive affirmations as I go to sleep so that I filter out negativity that way .I also like to try and avoid negativity wherever I can control it in my life by listening to positive podcasts, I won’t really listen to the radio either and try not to watch any negative TV programmes. Meditating also helps me to stay positive throughout the day, I meditate 2 times a day for a minimum of 10 minutes. I would also say that the most important thing is who you surround yourself with. You need to be around people who build you up and it’s okay for you to set boundaries with people who don’t in order to stay positive.”

Please leave your comments below about how you stay positive and leave any tips for those who may be wanting to gain a more positive outlook.
